There are not enough words to express the talent and charm that Matt Butcher possesses. Matt is a folk/country/americana singer-song writer, formerly the frontman for The Heathens, an Orlando based band. Prior to the band officially dissolving in 2007, Matt began recording some of his solo works with the accompaniment of several local talents of notoriety. The resulting album would appropriately be dubbed ‘Me and My Friends’. It was during the preliminary recordings of this album that I had been given the pleasure of working with Matt in the studio as the lead supervising engineer, though to the best of my knowledge the recordings that ended up on the LP were recorded elsewhere with a completely different producer. Regardless, just watching Matt perform was like magic. Soon word broke out about his sessions, and he was a human magnet, drawing everyone that was present the nights he came in. Even though the majority of the onlookers were supposed to be working on other recording sessions, they couldn’t resist the allure of Butcher’s melodic acoustic style and heartstring tugging poetry. I am confident that even if you’re not into folk, blues or americana, there is something in Matt Butcher that will draw you in speak to you in that corner of your soul that you keep hidden away from the world and possibly even yourself.
Matt’s second album, titled ‘Ghostwriting’ is tentatively slated to be released on July 22nd of 2011. His website and Facebook page have all the juicy details.

Where To Buy Their Music: So far, EP on iTunes & Amazon.com
Origin: Spain, mostly.
The first thing to understand about Dry Martina is that THEY are a band, not a person. Though I am sure you are interested to know who the sultry, honey tounged vocalist is, no? Of course… Her name is Laura Insausti, and she does get credit for being the original conspirator of the group, pulling talent from not only Spain, but also Australia and New Hampshire of all places. They come together to form a jazz-pop super group of sorts who has recently (as I write this in fall of 2010) been signed to BMG. Their first album is due out sometime before the end of this year, and it is definitely on my to-buy list. This would be a wonderful group to see live, by the way, in case they ever come to a city near you. Confía en mí.
